4th Grade National Park Ranger Skype Session
On Monday, March 31st and Monday, April 7th, the Oak Grove 4th Grade was able to add a new experience to their long-standing National Park project. Each class was able to Skype with a National Park park ranger. Mrs. Dunn and Mr. Henneberry's classes were able to video conference with Biscayne National Park ranger Maria Beotegui and Mrs. Seveska and Mrs. Moroz's classes were able to do the same on the following Monday. Ranger Maria started each Skype session with a summary of why there is a National Park system as well as some background information on Biscayne National Park where she is stationed. She shared information on the ecosystems and food chains of Biscayne. She was also able to show the classes artifacts that are found in Biscayne National Park including the jaw from a shark. Afterwards she fielded student questions.
