...grew up in Los Angeles, California and Potomac, Maryland. He started playing trumpet in 4th grade, and later received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Indiana University, Summa Cum Laude. He later taught band at Lincoln Elementary School in Chicago where he was introduced to a computer connected to a synthesizer...he was hooked! He earned a Master of Music with a Certificate in Technology from Northwestern University. In 2001, Mr. Meltzer became Dr. Meltzer when he earned a PhD in Music Education Technology and Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Illinois. He often presents at technology sessions at a variety of conferences including the Northern Illinois Computing Educators (NICE) and the Illinois Computing Educators (ICE). Dr. Meltzer also serves on the Board of Directors of NICE and is a Co-Chair for the ICE annual conference. He currently teaches 6-8 technology classes and serves as a tech coach.
